Calvinism

Calvinism in ALL its guises teaches the following_
God CONTROLS all things.
This is THE Calvinistic definition of sovereign, a word not found in scripture.
They also say that God ORDAINS all things, but they cannot say which of the 15 words in Hebrew and Greek, translated as ordained, they mean, since it is not scriptural.
So here is the next error, but ALL versions of Calvinism teach it
God's will cannot be disobeyed.
immediately they are debunked because sin is specifically prohibited by God, thus not what he wants, not what he controls people to do.
Their response is that God has a SECRET will. and it is the SECRET will that cannot be disobeyed. In any event, they do claim that God controls all to sin and ordains 100% of sin, his desire for sin occurring is to glorify him.
So when a saved person sins, they claim God gets glory from it.
When Paul rebukes the Jews in Romans 2, telling them that God is BLASPHEMED because of the Jew's hypocrisy, they claim he is glorified by being blasphemed.
Each time they make a claim their claims are debunked so they fall back to another invented, anit-christian doctrine.
They claim that the reason for sin is so God can show ALL his attributes, including wrath. The problem is, wrath is not an attribute, it is a reaction. His Holiness is an attribute, and so is mercy., so is love.

Sheep

Luke 15:3-7 in the ESV "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the sheep that was lost.' Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
Twice in the verses above, He mentions the one lost sheep the ninety-nine were not lost. So, if you are saved you are not lost. The lost sheep is the sinner who repents and makes things right with God. The other ninety-nine people need no repentance. They are already righteous.

Holy and righteous

Being righteous means that by our behavior we have been accepted by God. Noah was declared righteous by God through his behavior. He was blameless before God meaning he did right in Gods sight and he walked with God meaning he had a relationship with God (Genesis 6:9). Being righteous depends on faith.
Holy means to be separate. Set apart from sin with a high standard of moral character. It refers to our moral quality. When we apply the word to God it means that God has separated himself from sin.
Holy is referring to a person's character while righteousness is referring to a person's behavior.

Rejoice with the wife of thy youth

Proverbs 5:18 " Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth". This means to take another look at "the wife of your youth". You loved her then, love her now. The fountain is your wife. You are of one flesh with her. The wife of your youth is the girl you married while you were young. She is the girl you couldn't wait to tell your friends about.
Ecclesiastes 9:9 " Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labor which thou takest under the sun". Vanity means meaningless. It is our duty to love our wives, and enjoy our work. This is our portion in life. We are to make the best of it.

Why the world hates Christians

Why does the world hate Christians? No matter how generous we are or how kind and sympathetic we are to others we are hated because the world hates Jesus (John 15:21-24). Christians love Jesus so the world will hate us just as they hated Jesus (John 15:18). John 8:44 NLT says ” For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and father of lies”.
Some people say (most people nowadays) that Christians try to force religion on them. That simply is not the case. We as Christians are to tell others about Jesus Matthew (28:19-20). It does not tell us to force them to accept Him.

Should we care

This article is by Gloria Small.                                                                                                       While it is important for our self-image to be likable, amenable and approachable by other people, if we are focused on pleasing others, it can be a ditch that we fall into. Jesus told us that if the world hates us we should know that it first hated Him (John 15:18). The word translated hate here means to, detest and to persecute. So as believers, we should expect there to be some animus from others based upon our testimony. And while real persecution is not something that we see against believers in our country, the Voice of the Martyrs reports that there is rampant persecution and hatred in the world at large against Christians with many losing their lives for their testimony. The old saying is beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people are going to like us and some may not. Living life to please others so that they like us is a slippery slope. For as God says in Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together except they be agreed.” It is impossible to please everyone and as believers, we certainly are not going to agree with the disagreeable who do not accept God’s viewpoint.
There is also the passage in Luke 6:26 that says when all speak well of us it is not such a good thing for the fathers also spoke well of false prophets. In other words, speaking well of us is relative, it is based upon the opinion of the one speaking and their opinion can perhaps be based on a faulty sense of who we are. The reality is we cannot make people like us or think well of us and we certainly cannot read another’s mind.
The idea here should be that if our heart is in a right relationship with God that it is His opinion of us that is the real issue. And since God sees the believer IN Christ (I Corinthians 1:30: Ephesians 1:3, 6) it is our spiritual position as a child of God that determines our standing before Him. Therefore, it is better to have God’s approval than to depend upon the goodwill of others. Not that it means we cannot be likable and approachable. It is just that as believers, it should not be our focus. Living our lives to glorify and please God will bring us the response from others; some will be positive and some negative.
Because of His grace, Gloria.

Heraclius

Heraclius, The Emperor that made Greek the "Official" language of the Roman Empire
Heraclius (Latin: Flavius Heraclius Augustus, Greek: Φλάβιος Ἡράκλειος, Flavius Iraklios; c. 575 – February 11, 641) was the Emperor of the Roman from 610 to 641.
The reign of Heraclius, scholars have credited him with many accomplishments. He saved the Empire from collapse and in the process enlarged the Empire, and his reorganization of the government and military were great successes. His attempts at religious harmony failed, but he succeeded in returning the True Cross, one of the holiest Christian relics, to Jerusalem.
Heraclius took for himself the ancient Persian title of "King of Kings" after his victory. Later on, starting in 629, he styled himself as Basileus, the Greek word for "sovereign", and that title was used by the Roman Emperors for the next 800 years. The reason Heraclius chose this title over previous Roman terms such as Augustus has been attributed by some scholars to his Armenian origins.
In Islamic and Arab histories Heraclius is the only Roman Emperor who is discussed at any length owing to his role as the Roman Emperor at the time Islam emerged.
One of the most important legacies of Heraclius was changing the "official" language of the Empire from Latin to Greek in 620 AD.

Should we be concerned what others think of us?

Bible

We recently celebrated Easter as we remembered the death and resurrection of Jesus. After He arose He met with the disciples and gave them instructions to spread the message of His resurrection and what He taught. He wants those who know Him as their Savior to grow in their relationship with Him. He has instructed us to avoid sin and to not give in to Satan's temptations. Jesus wants us to live Holy lives. We will sin, but we confess our sin to Him and keep following Him. Our world today doesn't seem to understand repentance or want to repent of sin. Serious followers of Jesus understand that He wants us to turn away from sin, which is something we all struggle with. All of us. We are not defeated when we sin, because He has forgiven our sin, but we are defeated in our walk with Him if we don't turn from sin. That is a choice we have to make. Are we going to give in to the temptations of Satan and let him destroy our walk with God or are we going to turn away from his temptations and follow Jesus? In our walk with Jesus, we must spend time reading His Word, the Bible so that we can grow in our relationship with Him. The Word of God has transforming power to transform and strengthen us. The Word is the same now as it was 2000 years ago. It is alive and powerful. If you are going to follow Jesus then you need to know what He said and that's why we read the Bible. It's also one reason why we study the Bible in Church. The more we study the Bible the more we can apply what Jesus taught to our lives enabling us through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to live victorious Christian lives. Jesus arose from the tomb and someday we will arise with Him forevermore.
