Water

Where did the Egyptians get water to drink
The Egyptians probably bought water from the Children of Israel. Some have suggested that since the Egyptians were major beer producers they could have drank beer for seven days. Water is the main ingredient used in beer though and the Bible says all water in the land turned to blood (Exodus 7:21). It has also been suggested that they drank the blood of their herd animals. Pharaoh's magicians also turned water to blood (Exodus 7:22). So, this is evidence the water was not from the land of Egypt.

World War II Vatican Money Facts

Following is a list of some of the ways the Vatican enriched itself during World War II.
Reichskonkordat - From 1933, the Third Reich had signed a pact, the Reichskondordat, with the Holy See agreeing to collect the 8 – 10% church tax through automatic payroll deductions of German Catholic workers,9 a substantial provision to the Vatican’s budget. The Reichskonkordat validated the Nazi’s rise to power and reigned in Catholic priests from voicing dissent against Hitler’s regime and effectively tied the church to Nazi Germany.

Vatican Bank - The Vatican realized economic benefits from exercising complacency toward Nazism’s anti-Semitic policies. In fact, the Vatican experienced such an economic boon during the war that it needed to create an efficient way of dealing with the inflow of profits. On June 27, 1942, the Vatican Bank, also known as Istituto per le Opere di Religione (IOR; Institute for Works of Religion) was formed. Because its only branch was inside the Vatican, it was “free of any wartime regulations.”10 It was free of independent audits. It had a policy of destroying all files after ten years.
Throughout the war, Vatican Bank executed “back-and-forth transfers of Swiss francs, lira, dollars, sterling, and even gold bullion, through a slew of holding companies in a dozen countries on several continents.”11 In the midst of the unparalleled upheavals of WWII, opportunistic business titans, recognizing in the war an unequalled money-making opportunity also saw that the Vatican Bank was the world’s best offshore bank.12
Theft of Victims’ Insurance Policies - In addition, as an investor in Italian insurance companies, the Vatican benefited from the wartime practice of escheating, or transferring Jewish life insurance policies. Investigators estimate that during the war more than $200 billion in illegally retained premiums and unpaid benefits was stolen from Europe’s Jews. 13
Theft of Victims’ Gold and Jewellery - The Vatican played an important role in moving gold from German-occupied countries during the war. For example, post-war investigators concluded that Krunoslav Draganovic, a Croatian Roman Catholic priest, deposited Croatian victims’ gold and jewelry in the Vatican Bank which accepted it as “a contribution from a religious organization.”14 The loot disappeared without a trace through the Vatican Bank’s money laundering process.
At the end of the war, victims’ loot undoubtedly funded the Vatican’s efforts to transport fleeing Nazi fugitives to safe havens.

pope

March 2, 1939, Eugenio Pacelli was elected Pope. He had been the papal nuncio to Germany and had a great fondness for everything German. His family was among the Black Nobles, Roman aristocratic families that remained loyal to the Pope when the Italian nationalist army took Rome and confiscated the Pope’s kingdom in 1870. Early in his pontificate, Pope Pius XII sent Hitler a message assuring the Führer of the Vatican’s desire for good working relations with the Nazis. Shortly afterward, he directed his diplomatic representative, the Papal Nuncio to Germany, Archbishop Orsenigo, to fete Hitler on his fiftieth birthday.5
Pope Pius XII’s policy was silence in response to the atrocities of the Holocaust and the slaughter of Serbs in Croatia. Priests and bishops were actively involved in the politics and killing machinery of Croatia and Slovakia where hundreds of thousands, possibly more than a million, Jews and Orthodox Christian Serbs and others were killed.6 Though repeatedly implored by eye witnesses to speak out against the brutality, the Pope remained silent. Even when the Nazis entered Italy, where 1200 Jews living in Rome were rounded up and transported along streets that lay just 250 yards (approximately 230 m) from the Vatican – virtually right under the Pope’s nose – to a military detention center, Pope Pius did nothing to stop the violence. A thousand of those Jews, mostly women and children, were put in rail cars two days later and sent to Auschwitz.
Germany’s Ambassador reported, “The Curia is especially upset considering the action took place, in a manner of speaking, under the Pope’s own windows.”7 The Vatican’s response at that time? An official thanks to Hitler’s Foreign Minister for the German military’s respectful wartime behaviour to the city-state,8 possibly a reference to a promise made by Ernst von Weizsacker, Germany’s ambassador, that Germany would protect the Vatican from damage.
Unbelievably, in 1942, Pius was pre-occupied with the filming of a movie he was having made about himself, Pastor Angelicus.
Why did the Vatican refuse to act on behalf of those being slaughtered? Might the reason have had something to do with money?

Tithing

When someone rich dies usually the first question asked by friends and relatives is “How much money did he leave us?” Then the guessing game begins. Actually, there is no need to guess.   The answer is simply “He left everything.”
The Bible says we brought nothing into this world and we will take nothing out (1Timothy 6:7). Many people equate success and contentment with money and other material possessions. The Bible makes it clear that the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10). People have strayed from faith because of wealth. Some being so obsessed with the wealth they have gone down the drain morally, physically, spiritually and psychologically. Solomon said, “He who seeks silver will never be satisfied with silver” (Ecclesiastes 5:10).
Money per-se is not bad. But when it becomes our god - it is bad. God blesses people financially so that wealth can be used to glorify God, spread His Gospel, and to share that wealth with other people who are in need.
We should offer a part of what God has given us to be used for His greater glory. This is the essence of tithing. What is tithing? Tithing is giving the tenth part of one’s income to the Lord. The origin of the Christian practice of tithing is unknown, but the first Biblical account of tithing was on Abraham’s return from slaughtering of the kings, he gave Melchisedec, the king of Salem, one-tenth of the spoils (Genesis 14:17-20).  What is certain is that tithing originated long before Moses was born. It started before there was the Hebrew nation.
We can rob God in tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8-10). The Lord tells the children of Israel to test Him and see if their storehouses are not full.

Proverbs 3:9 tells us to honor the Lord with our wealth. The Lord grieves when we spend money set aside for Him on other things. This is an insult to the Lord. Tithing should have priority over the other uses of our money. Tithing should also come from our hearts. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).

have told you this so that you may not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me. I have told you this so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you. ---- John 16:1-4

The Spanish-held Canary Islands, off the northwest coast of Africa, were home to small greenfinches. These birds were caught and caged and sold in England as “canary birds”; today’s domesticated canary bird is mainly yellow, not green, and is called a “canary” for short. However, the word "canary" itself originally meant something different. The Canary Islands were so called by the Romans because of a type of large canine found there (the Latin "canāarius" meant “of dogs”). From big dog to little yellow bird—that’s etymology.

If Jesus was God why did he tell the man who called him “good master” not to call him “good” (Mark 10:17-18) because accordingly, there is none good but his God in Heaven alone.

Top of Form

y Very simple: if you read the verse, Jesus doesn't tell the person asking, 'don't call me good'. He simply says, 'Why Why do you call me good'.
Then He adds, 'only God is good'.
The questioner was a Jew. Jesus simply meant to the Jew that if he (the Jew) thought that Jesus is good, then he would have to accept that Jesus is God, for only God is good.

Drifting away from the Lord

I'm so glad you have recognized your "drift." This is critically important in getting back on track in your relationship with the Lord. It's something most Christ followers experience from time to time. Just like a drift in the water, we must intentionally re-route ourselves back to shore. There are many scriptures that remind us how to get back. James 4:8 says, to draw near to God and He will draw near to us. We do this mainly through reading the scriptures. So, what you can do is pick back up where you may have left off previously. Or, just begin a fresh Bible-reading plan. Find one here: https://www.biblegateway.com/reading-plans/

The next best action is to get connected in a local church community. If you are attending a church, inquire about the small groups they offer. This is also an important step in getting back on track. Because God designed the Church as a body, we need to be around other people to function with all the potential He created us with (Hebrews 10:23-25).

The final part of reconciling yourself to God is simply to talk to Him. Prayer is a two-way conversation between you and the Lord. He loves to hear from you anytime. There is no formal way to do this. It's just a matter of sharing your heart with His in a genuine manner (John 4:24, Romans 8:36). When we do these things, you will sense a change in your perspective. The closer you are to God, the better perspective we have on everything else. And, it leaves little room for the enemy to bring division. This is an ongoing practice—it's a discipline. But one that is produces internal peace and strength in your inner man. Nothing compares to being in the presence of God. And we can do that anywhere, anytime.

I'll leave you with this reminder: "Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, "Seek my face." My heart says to you, 'Your face, Lord, do I seek.'" Psalm 27:7-8

Sin,death

The Bible says that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). So the question becomes two questions: 1) who has sinned, and 2) what is death? The answer to the first question is given in Romans 3:23 – all have sinned. But what part of us has sinned? Every part of us has sinned; body, soul, and spirit. We cannot say that only our body and soul sinned but our spirit is righteous (or any claim that any part of us is sinless). Therefore, all of us must die to pay for that sin. So we must understand what death is. Death is separation from life. For our bodies and soul, this is what we customarily call physical death. But our spirits must pay the penalty for our sin as well. Our spirits will exist forever after our physical death, so physical death does not result in our spirits` death. Life for our spirits is communion with God, so death for our spirits is separation from God, which is also called "eternal damnation". Therefore, stating that the punishment for sin is death INCLUDES eternal separation from God. It is not a separate and added penalty.

Fortunately for us, God has provided a way (through Jesus) for our spirits' penalty for sin to be paid for us, so we don't have to face eternal separation from God. Jesus had no sin, so when He paid the penalty for sin, God imputed His righteousness to everyone who believes in Jesus. Our body and soul will still die, but our spirits will be able to enjoy communion with God.

Vasili Arkhipov

On this day on October 27, 1962, the Soviet Vasili Arkhipov saved the world from a nuclear war! !             The Cuban missile crisis began when the Soviet Union started installing nuclear missiles in Cuba. The US government started a naval blockade around the island. The Soviet submarine B 59 with nuclear weapons with Vasili Arkhipov second-in-command had the mission to break the American blockade. The captain Valentin Savitsky opted to launch a nuclear torpedo against a USS warship. Arkhipov refused and managed to convince the captain to emerge and wait for orders from Moscow. During those times of crisis, the Soviet officers, having lost radio contact with Moscow, wrongly concluded that World War 3 had begun. Only 15 minutes later, news arrived that the USSR and the United States had decided to end the Cuban missile crisis.

How we came to worship on Sunday

HOW THE SABBATH WAS CHANGED FROM SABBATH TO SUNDAY
From a historical point of view, the change from Saturday to Sunday was a process, it wasn't something to happen overnight. Before we take a look at that process I want to express that Sunday worships started not because of a biblical command. It started because of prosecution of the early church by Pagan Imperial Rome, and you can take a look at this for yourself. This process was in three parts,
(1) The early church kept Sunday because of prosecution,
(2) Constantine Passes Sunday laws to Christianize his pagan empire because Christianity was growing stronger and taking over his land.
(3) And the Catholic Church pass another Sunday law to strengthen Constantine Sunday laws because afterward, the early church was still keeping the Sabbath.
But let's take a look at the process, detail.
WHEN DID SUNDAY WORSHIP START. We have the process starting in 150 A.D. Why, because Justin Martyr records in the (Clark's Ante-Nicene Library, Chapter LXVII, p. 185, 1953 edition) the only authentic source where was the START OF THE CHANGE. The other sources like the Didache, or the Epistle of Barnabas, proven none authentic. Since Justin martyr has the only authentic source which is placed at 150 AD this means, it is the start of the process. Also, that proves the apostles and the early church kept the Sabbath not Sunday.
So from 150 and on the church started to keep Sunday, but they didn't only keep Sunday they kept Saturday Holy also, this is recorded in (—Church History, Apostolic Age to A.D. 70, Section 29.). There were three groups of Christians at that time. (1) You had the Romans Christians who kept Sunday. (2) You had the Gentile Christians who kept both days. (3) And you had the Jewish Christians who kept Sabbath. So from 150 to 321 AD many wars between the Jews the Christians in the Roman empire.
ENTER CONSTANTINE. Constantine saw this as a problem because he wanted to paganize his Roman Empire. Christianity was growing in his empire and it was starting to overthrow it, no matter how many prosecutions they did to it. So he passed into law in 321 AD for the first time, that they had to keep Sunday as a LAW or they will go to jail. Here is the law,❝On the venerable Day of the sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits: because it often happens that another Day is not so suitable for grain-sowing or for vine planting: lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.❞
(—ii. Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church Volume 3 (Edinburgh: 1884): 380, note.) The early church, before this law didn't keep Sunday because it was a law or a command from the Bible, they kept it because of prosecution. The Jews and the Roman empire were at war a lot, and the early church since they kept the Sabbath, the Roman empire confuse them Jews and they were killing off the Christians thinking thus was Jews. So the EARLY CHURCH decided to keep Sunday, because of prosecution and wars, but from no a biblical command.
There were Christians who kept Sunday but also they were Christians who were true to the word of God and they kept Sabbath, this is the remnant that was alive at that time. Papal Rome saw this as a problem so they passed into law or once again to strengthen Constantine's laws, that the early church had to stop keeping Sabbath and start keeping Sunday, we see this here; ❝Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday (Sabbath), but shall work on that Day: but the Lord’s Day, they shall especially honor; and as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ❞
(—Rev. Charles Joseph Hefele, Henry N. Oxenham (trans.), A History of the Church Councils from 326 to 429 Volume 2 (Edinburgh: T. and T. Clark, 1896): 316.)
And this is how the change came it was a process that happens gradually over time. And this was so effective that now we see practically the whole Christian world keeping Sunday and Sabbath.

Oaths

Oaths are not evil. God made an oath to Abraham (Hebrews 6:13-14). Since the Lord is perfect, we must conclude that an oath is not sinful.
Jesus testified at His trial with an oath (Matthew 26:64).
Paul made an oath (2 Corinthians 1:23; Romans 1:9). He wrote these words by inspiration from God.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Scripture warns against false swearers (1 Timothy 1:10). If all oaths were wrong then this verse would not be in the Bible.

I believe you are referring to James 5:12 and Matthew 5:33-37. They tell us not to swear by heaven or earth or any other oath. This does not mean sincere legal oaths. These verses are talking about the frivolous and profane use of Gods name.

Satan

Satan tried to kill and defeat Jesus everywhere He went from the manger to the cross.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Jesus was in a constant battle with Satan from the time He was born (Matthew 2:16). Satan could not kill Jesus when He was a child so, when He became a man Satan tried to ruin Him.
After being baptized (Matthew 4: 1-11) Satan tried to get Jesus to turn stone into bread, a jump of 100 meters, off the top of the temple and, bow down and worship him (Satan). Satan used Jesus' brothers to tempt Him. John 7:5 tells us His brothers did not believe in Him. Satan also used Jesus disciples to tempt Him. Jesus' disciples had tried to drive an evil Spirit from a child, but they could not do it. Jesus was cross with His disciples. He said, "how much longer must I be patient with you Matthew (17:17)." Another time Jesus told His disciples He had to die on the cross so, Satan took this opportunity to use Peter to make Jesus angry. Jesus told Peter to get away from Him and called him Satan (Matthew 6:23). Of course, Jesus knew that Satan had caused Peter to say that.
After the Lord's supper, Jesus and the disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane to pray. In the garden, He went through a very difficult temptation.  He was thinking of how they would take Him to court, beat and kill Him. Jesus was so full of pain His sweat was like drops of blood (Luke 22:44). God chose Jesus to die (Romans 3:25). If Jesus had disobeyed God nobody could be saved.

Satan tried his best to hurt and tempt Jesus, but Jesus went all the way to the cross. Satan knew while Jesus was on this earth and felt hunger, pain, and joy that this was the best time to try and destroy the work God was doing.

Roman Empire

Two centuries after Jesus' crucifixion and one century after the end of the macabre Jewish-Roman wars (that caused at least 2 million fatalities from both sides), the Roman Empire nearly collapsed during the Imperial Crisis (235-284 AD), under the combined pressures of invasions (Germanic raids in the north, Goths, Vandals, Alamanni from the Danube frontier, Sassanid attacks from the east), civil wars (numerous usurpers, the Empire split into competing states, Roman generals were fighting each other while neglecting their duties of defending the frontiers), the Plague of Cyprian (250-262, probably smallpox, 5,000 people a day were said to be dying in Rome) and economic depression (hyperinflation, agricultural crisis, barbaric migrations, disruption of Rome's internal trade network).
At the same time, Christianism, with its redemptive oratory and promises of afterlife salvation, was strengthening its numbers of followers massively. Due to this generally ominous situation, the Classical studies were under constant and reevaluation by the remaining scholars of the ancient world.
In these twilight years of the Classical antiquity, Neoplatonism was born in Alexandria by Ammonius Saccas and developed greatly by his student, Plotinus (ca 205-270 AD). Plotinus reinterpreted Platonism and Pythagoreanism in a monistic and pantheistic way, offering to the world a renewed, complete teaching that was harmonized and combined with the rest of the Greek philosophy, the Greco-Roman cultural traditions, Zoroastrianism, Egyptian theology, Eastern mysticism, and Hinduism.
According to Neoplatonism, the supreme cause of reality is "the One" (EN), which is both the creative source and the teleological end of all existing things. The second principle is the Mind (ΝΟΥΣ), which is corresponding to Plato's world of ideas and is a part of the One. The third and final principle is the Soul (ΨΥΧΗ), a part of which exists in every living being.
The purpose of human, according to Neoplatonists, is his individual part of the Soul to return to the primary source, the One. This can only be achieved, however, through virtuous life (ΚΑΘΑΡΣΙΣ).
Neoplatonism was the last great spark of the ancient philosophy. It became widely accepted in Alexandria, Pergamos, Athens, Antiocheia and Rome. The last Neoplatonic faculty was the Academy of Athens, which was closed arbitrary by Justinian in 529, and its scholars migrated to the Sassanid Persia. However, the Neoplatonic teachings never vanished from the eastern Roman Empire. Some of the most notable Neoplatonists were Iamblichus, Porfyrios, emperor Julian, Hypatia, Damaskios, Syrianos, Proklos, Asclepiodotos, Gemistos Plethon, Meister Eckhart and Marsilio Ficino.
